Elderly Bridgeville Man Arrested for Distribution of Illegal Gambling Devices

The Division of Alcohol & Tobacco Enforcement on Friday arrested a 71-year-old Bridgeville man for distributing illegal gambling devices to various alcohol licensed establishments in the area.

Thomas Jefferson, owner of Timmons Amusements, was charged with distribution of a gambling device and being concerned in interest in keeping a gambling device.

After receiving information that Timmons Amusements was distributing the illegal devices, DATE began its investigation; search warrants were executed at Timmons Amusements and Jefferson’s Market Street home. DATE Agents located evidence indicating gambling machines were being supplied to unlicensed retail locations in Kent and Sussex County. In addition, evidence was discovered indicating that Timmons Amusements was sharing profits from these illegal devices at the retail locations.

Jefferson was released on an unsecured bond pending a future court appearance.
