Mar 06, 2013 -- 12:24pm

4:50pm - There are numerous reports of wires down across Delmarva.   There are scattered power outages across the area.  The Delaware Electric Cooperative is reporting over 4100 members without power.  The bulk of the outages are in Millsboro and Georgetown and in western Kent County.

Delmarva Power has scattered outages as well – however the entire beach area has outages from Kent County to Ocean City.  There are also outages in Seaford.  And in Dorchester County.

Choptank Electric Cooperative has numerous outages – the largest outages are between Salisbury and Ocean Pines.

Remember where there are power outages – traffic lights will also be out.

UPDATED 3:55 P.M. BY ANDREW KOCH: The high winds are causing the power outages to pile up.

Delmarva Power is reporting that more than 12,500 customers have lost power. That includes more than 6,800 in Sussex County and more than 2,300 in Worcester County. More than 4,400 Delaware Electric Cooperative members are without power, and nearly 12,000 Choptank Electric Cooperative members in Maryland are currently in the dark.

ORIGINAL STORY BY ANDREW KOCH -  The high winds and heavy rain are already starting to cause power outages.

Delmarva Power is reporting that 229 customers in Ocean City, 272 customers in Salisbury, and 71 around Pocomoke City are without power right now. The Delaware Electric Cooperative says that more than 1,300 members in Sussex County have lost power. That includes 164 members in the West Fenwick area, who have lost power because of a tree that came down onto power lines.

About 170 members of the Choptank Electric Cooperative have lost power on the Lower Eastern Shore of Maryland.
