A memorial service to celebrate the life and memory of former Delaware Lieutenant Governor Gene Bookhammer will be held next week; he died Saturday night at his Lewes home. Bookhammer was 94.
Bookhammer was a lifelong philanthropist and served as Delaware's lieutenant governor for two terms, from 1969 to 1977. Prior to being elected lieutenant governor, Bookhammer served in the state Senate from 1962 to 1968.
The memorial service is scheduled for Monday, March 4 at the Rehoboth Beach Country Club at 11 a.m.
