DelDOT Making Due with FY 2014 Budget Request

Feb 27, 2013 -- 2:08am

DelDOT officials pleaded their budget case before state lawmakers earlier this week.  The plan is to continue to reduce the department’s $1.08-billion debt, but still keep the state’s roads in good repair.  Secretary Shailen Bhatt plans to postpone $46-million in capital projects and several other projects will be delayed – some a few months like the widening of Route 26 which will now not begin until fall – and some could be delayed a few years.  Projects that are already underway will proceed.  There was no increase in tolls, fees or Transportation Trust Fund taxes.
