The field of candidates is nearly set for the City of Salisbury’s Mayor and Council election in April. After Tuesday's primary election we have a better idea of who the 2 candidates will be in Districts 1 and 2.
Incumbent Shanie Shields was the top vote-getter in District 1 with 55 - followed by Cynthia Polk with 40 votes. April Jackson garnered 39 votes, however the count is not yet complete as at least 140 absentee and 3 provisional ballots still have to be counted. The final numbers won't be complete until next week.
In District 2, Jacob Day gathered 803 votes followed by incumbent Deborah Campbell with 271. Jack Heath followed with 197.
Voter turn-out was just under 10%
There are also two candidates running for Mayor - incumbent Jim Ireton; the other is Salisbury News Blogger Joe Albero.
