A Wilmington man is dead after being struck by a tractor trailer this morning.

Delaware State Police say the accident happened just after 1 a.m. as 48-year-old Duane Haines was northbound on I-495 in his Peterbuilt Truck. Haines told police he was unable to see the pedestrian, who was wearing dark-colored clothing, standing in the roadway and struck the man.

Police say a Honda Accord being driven by Douglas Kenney failed to see the man lying in the road and hit him again.

The 47-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Haines and Kenney were both properly restrained and were not injured in the crash.
