Asteroid DA14 has passed by Earth at its closest point just before 2:30 this afternoon.  The asteroid at its closest was about 17,200 miles away from the Earth's surface.  NASA officials say the meteorite that crashed to earth this morning in Russia is not related to DA14.  You'll find more information at
