Delaware Senator Chris Coons Tuesday praised the Senate’s passage of a bill to reauthorize the landmark Violence Against Women Act.
The legislation, which is similar to legislation passed by the Senate last year, has deep support from leaders in Delaware. It passed on Tuesday by a 78-22 vote.
Senator Coons says domestic violence tears too many homes apart and rips at the fabric of our communities; he says the Senate again took a stand to end these horrific crimes by reauthorizing and strengthening the Violence Against Women Act. Senator Coons also urged the House to do likewise, because domestic abuse isn’t a partisan issue – it impacts men, women and children from all walks of life.
