Feb 08, 2013 -- 2:28pm

The Maryland State Police now have 50 new troopers.

The Maryland State Police Academy’s 139th Trooper Candidate Class had its graduation ceremony this morning at Century High School in Sykesville. The troopers went through six months of rigorous academic and physical training. After a few days off, they’ll report to the 22 State Police barracks throughout Maryland, and will go through eight more weeks of field training and instruction with a training trooper before they’ll be able to patrol on their own.

State Police Colonel Marcus Brown and Lieutenant Governor Anthony Brown were the keynote speakers at today's graduation ceremony.
