DelDOT is getting ready for the Nor’easter that’s expected to reach the Mid-Atlantic starting tonight.
The storm is forecast to bring as much as an inch of snow to northern New Castle County, and heavy rain and winds gusting up to around 45 miles an hour for the rest of the state. With strong sustained winds blowing onshore, coastal flooding is expected in low-lying areas along the Atlantic Ocean, Delaware Bay and Inland Bays.
The high winds are expected to cause power outages. DelDOT says it will have crews on standby to remove fallen trees and branches from roads, as well as to repair traffic lights. In Sussex County, DelDOT says the dune on the north side of the Indian River Inlet should be able to withstand large, pounding waves. In Prime Hook, North Bay Shore Drive has been set up as an alternate emergency entrance in case Prime Hook Road floods.
