Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge to See Sandy Aid

Feb 07, 2013 -- 6:46am

DNREC Secretary Collin O’Mara says federal officials have set aside some of the nation’s $60 billion Superstorm Sandy relief package for a massive restoration at Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge in Milton.

O’Mara told Delaware’s Joint Finance Committee on Wednesday that while Prime Hook will see some of the Sandy money, he doesn’t yet know how much money.

Whatever the amount, the money will be used to pump sand, repair dunes and restore marshland to the Refuge that has seen quite a bit of damage from flooding over the years.
