Worcester County Board of Commissioners Declares February as Children's Dental Health Month

Feb 05, 2013 -- 6:37pm

The Worcester County Board of Commissioners has declared this month as Children’s Dental Health Month.

The Commissioners presented County Health Officer Debbie Goeller with a proclamation making the declaration during their meeting yesterday. The purpose is to highlight how parents can promote healthy dental habits for their children.

The American Dental Association says children should have their first visit to a dentist by their first birthday. The Worcester County Health Department says proper oral health not only allows people to talk, chew and taste food, and have a good appearance, but also prevents a variety of diseases, including oral cancer and heart disease.
