DBE Elaborates On Proposed Amenities At Lighthouse Cove

Feb 05, 2013 -- 5:50pm

Dewey Beach Enterprises is elaborating on some of the amenities it’ll be putting in as it redevelops its Lighthouse Cove property, formerly known as Ruddertowne.

DBE has submitted an application to DNREC to build and maintain a bay walk around the complex’s bayside perimeter. The walkway will be around 330 feet long and 16 feet wide, and will have platforms for crabbing, fishing and bird watching. The bay walk is part of the Mutual Agreement and Release that settled DBE’s six lawsuits against Dewey Beach. The company is also planning to use sand excavated for the Hyatt Place Hotel project to expand the bayside beach on Van Dyke Street, next to the Que Pasa restaurant.

DNREC will host a public hearing on DBE’s application Friday night from 6 to 9 at the Bay Center.
