A 24-year-old Salisbury man is behind bars today after allegedly abducting a woman from the parking lot of the Brew River Restaurant Friday morning.
Salisbury Police say the 20-year-old victim was denied entry to Brew River around 12:30 a.m. for being too young; the woman then called a cab to go home and while she was waiting for the taxi, the suspect approached her in a vehicle and asked if she had called a cab and needed a ride home. Police say the woman believed the suspect was actually a taxi service and got in the car.
Police say Adene Bekele, took the victim to his home on West Church Street, forced her inside and forced her at knife-point to smoke from a Hookah device. The woman was able to leave the apartment and call police.
Bekele is charged with numerous offenses including kidnapping and false imprisonment.
