Seaford Man Charged With DUI After Crashing Into Telephone Pole

Feb 01, 2013 -- 10:47am

A Seaford resident has been charged with driving under the influence after crashing into a telephone pole.

Delaware State Police say around 10:50 last night, 56-year-old Thomas Sammons was driving his GMC Sierra pickup west on O’Neal’s Road and was approaching an “S” curve near Gum Branch Road when he failed to negotiate the left-hand curve. Troopers say he went off the road and broke a utility pole in half. Sammons was examined at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital and released. The crash closed O’Neal’s Road for around three hours as the crash was cleared and power crews worked to restore electricity.

Sammons has been charged with DUI, failing to remain within a single lane, and no proof of insurance and registration.
